I turned my first bowl in 7th grade woodshop. I turned my second bowl 20 years ago in a woodturning
class at a local tool supply store. I got my first lathe for Christmas in 2016 and turned my third bowl in
early January last year and have been turning steadily ever since.
I learned turning skills and techniques from the numerous
YouTube channels
finding out quickly there
are many ways to turn a bowl. I soon joined the Gulf Coast Woodturners Association and have learned
many techniques at the monthly meeting demonstrations and annual retreat and have made many new
friends.
So far in my short tenure as a turner, I have turned mostly bowls, but now I am starting to branch out
into pepper mills and wine glass stems. I just purchased a pressure pot and plan to experiment with
wood/resin casting.
