Dust Collection Hack
By Phil Colson
Atlanta, GA

Something in my shop has been bugging me for a long time. When trying to clean up the shop floor with the dust collector hose it keeps sucking down on the floor. I pop it loose and keep vacuuming but then it sucks down again and I have to keep popping it loose. If only I could break the suction factor without affecting the flow...

My thought was to put a small notch in the bottom edge of the hose fitting. I used my bandsaw to cut the notch and now the hose doesn't lock down on the floor and it moves freely. Anything that cuts plastic will work. It works for me.
